The three modalities I utilize can be used seamlessly in one session. They are a great compliment to each other. These techniques tap into our body’s natural ability to heal and our body’s need to be witnessed and held. Many ancient healing modalities utilize these pathways and abilities of the body, however, here in the West we have grown disconnected and detached from the knowing within our bodies. This modality can gently guide you back into relationship with your body so that you are in tune with your systems and the messages they are relaying.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy(BCST) is a unique modality that has its origins in indigenous cultures which was shared with Dr. Andrew Still and led him into his practice and creation of Osteopathy. Though Dr. Still descended from the Lumbee tribe, his techniques were learned from Shawnee healers (from what I can gather). These techniques have been taught and used for over a century without giving proper recognition to their origins. I would like to honor the people and their deep roots that make this modality possible.
Somatic Experiencing Therapy was developed by Peter A. Levine as a trauma releasing technique through the mind-body connection. This modality uses conversation to bring you into your body and start to identify patterns and coping mechanisms that can be rewired as well as releasing blocked emotions and trauma that may have caused disruption to your nervous system. It pairs well with BCST and sound therapy to bring new information and patterns to your system.
Sound Therapy is a technique that uses sound and vibration to bring new information to your system. Some vibrations may help break through stuck tissues, while others may open up stuck emotions. The range of experiences is vast and can bring you into a deeper brain state of healing and/or meditation. The more our brain and body can experience these states, the easier it becomes to get there on your own.
